Inflammation, your best ally or worst enemy
Inflammation is an essential defence mechanism against external invasions, eliminating debris of dead cells and degraded structures. Inflammation is a programmed sequence of reactions.
The first step is initiation in which specific cell types are mobilized, engulfing cell debris or bacteria and producing oxygen free radicals to destroy them.
Initiation must be quickly followed by a resolution step allowing the body to revert to a normal balanced status.
When resolution fails, inflammation becomes chronic.
SPMs and omega-3 to control inflammation
Omega-3 fatty acids are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. But the real anti_inflammatory components are the Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators derived from the long chain omega-3 fatty acids.
RESOLVE supplies preformed SPMs ready to be used by the organism, and the long chain omega-3 fatty acids (DHA, DPA, EPA) to produce de novo SPMs when and where needed.
These omega-3 fatty acids are supplied in the form of Phospholipids, the only form that allows to create a stock in cell membranes, immediately available to produce SPMs to start the resolution step and control inflammation.
